last saturday, cape town celebrated the opening of the new green point stadium with a soccer festival. ajax cape town played against santos. the tickets for this special event were limited to 20'000, because the operators wanted to test the stadium first. of course, the tickets were sold within a few days, because everyone wanted to see the new stadium.
at 2pm the gates of the new green point stadium were opened and the soccer festival started with a concert of the south african band freshlyground. santos won the soccer game in the penalty shoot out and became the stadium's first winner.
if you have not yet been inside the new world cup stadium and are in cape town on 6 february 2010, you can attend the rugby festival that will test the capacity of the stadium once more. tickets are available from www.computicket.com
